All the mufflers made for the 300zx are striaght through design except B&B. Genie is straight through.... Stillen is Straight through.... Borla is straight through.... Ours is straight through... Greddy is straight through... Straight through is the correct design for a turbo car. The larger the can with a straight through design when packed well, the quieter the exhaust will become. This is why Genie was quiet, This is why the old Stillen with the large cans was quiet. The new Stillen has a smaller can and is louder. The chamber designs work good on NA engines but they are very loud. Turbo cars should not have chambered mufflers or they will make less power. B&B is chamber design and it really is more of an amplifier rather than a muffler. The domestic guys love the Chambered flow masters and they are loud!
The design of the core does matter as well.... Most straight through cores on mufflers have a bunch of small holes and packing between the core and muffler. We use a micro-perforated core as we have found it to be the quietest. When I used Labree he liked the Spiral louver core and it is much louder.
